Roberto Trotta
Professor of Theoretical Physics and Head of Data Science SISSA - Italy

Roberto leads the Theoretical and Scientific Data Science group at SISSA. His work is at the interface between cosmology, machine learning and statistics, focusing on developing and applying new Bayesian and machine learning methods to large and complex data sets from cosmology and astrophysics. He is an award-winning author, science communicator and scientific consultant.
Before joining SISSA in 2020, he was full Professor of Astrostatistics at Imperial College London, where between 2015 and 2020 he was the Director of the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication. Outside of academia, he is the co-founder and was a director of Data Fusion Consultants Ltd (2008-2020) and a non-executive director of Imperial Consultants Ltd (2018-2020).
