Demographic impacts of Covid-19

The implications for life and health insurance and for the provision of public services

April 2021

Federico Scamperle, alumnus of the Master in Insurance & Finance, in collaboration with the Demographic Laboratory* of MIB Trieste School of Management, presents a research focused on the socio-demographic impacts of Covid-19.

Overall mortality has increased, especially in higher age groups and more fragile segments of the population, and the birth rate has decreased. Moreover, the effects of the pandemic have also manifested themselves on people's psycho-physical conditions, with possible consequences in the medium and long term, also in terms of changes in individuals' lifestyles and expectations.
The study offers an overall view of these aspects, in particular examining the implications for life and health insurance and for the provision of public services in Italy.

The initiative is part of the activities of the Demographic Laboratory* of the MIB Trieste School of Management.
