Origini 2026 welcomes 28 young descendants of Italian emigrants from around the world

A new international cohort from 7 countries and four continents begins a five-month journey combining management education, professional opportunities and a rediscovery of Italian roots.

A one-of-a-kind project that for 26 years has been building bridges across generations, enabling young descendants of Italian emigrants to reconnect with their family heritage and establish professional ties with Italian businesses.

Origini is more than a management training program: it is a journey of personal and professional growth, cultural discovery and new opportunities.
Since its launch in 2001, Origini has welcomed over 450 participants from 18 countries, building an international community that continues to connect generations of Italian descendants with their ancestral homeland.

The 2026 edition has officially begun at MIB Trieste School of Management, welcoming 28 young professionals from 7 countries across four continents. Coming from Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Canada, Australia, Venezuela and Uruguay, participants bring diverse academic backgrounds and professional experiences, united by their Italian family heritage. With an average age of 28.5, the new cohort reflects the international character of the program, with Argentina and Brazil accounting for 75% of participants.

Connecting international talent with Italian roots

One of the defining features of Origini is its connection to the history of Italian emigration and the opportunity it offers new generations to rediscover their family heritage. This year's participants have family roots in 14 Italian regions, with a particularly strong connection to Friuli-Venezia Giulia: 57% trace their family origins to the region, while more than 70% have roots in Northeast Italy. The classroom also reflects a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds, from economics, international business and marketing to international relations, engineering and architecture. All participants bring previous professional experience in areas including international trade, finance, consulting, marketing, technology and business development. For many of them, Origini represents an opportunity to reconnect with the country their families once left, while building new relationships and exploring professional opportunities in Italy.

Five months of management education and professional experience

Selected through a rigorous process from hundreds of applicants, participants embark on a five-month program combining academic training and professional experience with Italian companies. The first two intensive months at MIB Trieste School of Management focus on management fundamentals, with particular emphasis on Export Management, Entrepreneurial Development and International Marketing, through sessions delivered by MIB's Faculty. This is followed by a three-month internship with Italian companies interested in developing international projects and business opportunities in the participants' countries of origin. The program offers a concrete opportunity to connect international talent with the Italian business community, encouraging the exchange of knowledge, perspectives and professional experience.

Building bridges between Italy and the world

The impact of Origini extends well beyond the program itself. Among alumni surveyed from the 2017–2022 editions, 24% work in Italy, while 15% continue professional collaborations from their countries of residence. These results highlight the program's ability to create lasting professional relationships and strengthen connections between Italian businesses and international markets.

Institutional partners and supporters

The project is made possible thanks to the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and ICE – Italian Trade Agency; one Scholarship is offered by Associazione Giuliani nel Mondo.
The program is under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Funding covers all participation costs for the selected candidates.

MIB Trieste School of Management warmly welcomes the new Origini participants and wishes them a rewarding experience of learning, discovery and new connections.
