Walter Yu, from China to his Trieste

Today’s story is just the kind of good news we need these days!
As you may know, as part of our MBA in International Business program, students and instructors participate in exchange programs between one of seven business school partners around the world, including Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.
Walter Yu participated in an exchange with our School during the 25th edition of the MBA in 2014-15. During his time in Trieste, he had a chance to meet MIB students and discover our city. He also fell in love with our culture before returning to his country.

After experiencing the severity of the COVID-19 emergency in China, Walter Yu was concerned about how the situation was developing in Italy. He decided to take action and do a wonderful thing for the community that hosted him.
He decided to donate 4,000 surgical masks to the city of Trieste.
In coordination with MIB staff, in particular our MBA Program Manager, Victoria Plez, and Civil Protection, the Municipality of Trieste will soon receive a package that will allow citizens, especially those involved in the front lines of the emergency, to work more safely.

In the words of Mayor Roberto Dipiazza, from the press note for the Municipality of Trieste:
"I would like to publicly thank this young Chinese man for this important gesture, which is a sign of sensitivity, generosity, and affection for our City and, at the same time, proof of a growing friendship that brings Trieste closer to China for more than just economic reasons.
I would also like to thank Ms. Plez and the entire staff of MIB, Local Police Commander, Walter Milocchi, and Paolo Jerman, Director of the Civil Protection Service and Administration and Coordinator of the Municipality group of Civil Protection services, Milvia Chersi for coordinating the ‘process’ of receiving the much-appreciated donation."

We are extremely proud of our students, graduates, and the entire community around us: it is exciting to see that the values we seek to convey in the classroom: responsibility, ethics, team spirit and interest in the common good, exemplified in such a noble and important gesture.
Thank you, Walter Yu. The doors of Ferdinand Palace will always be open for you whenever you return.

We hope to see you again soon!
Thank you,

MIB Trieste School of Management
