Seminar with Andrea Sironi, Chairman of Assicurazioni Generali: Insights on Europe’s Financial Evolution and Regulatory Challenges
This week, MIB Trieste School of Management had the honour of welcoming Prof. Andrea Sironi, Chairman of Assicurazioni Generali, for the third edition of his Seminar.
His lecture provided a macroeconomic perspective and forward-looking analysis of the macroeconomic and regulatory trends shaping the future of European financial institutions.
Prof. Sironi covered key topics such as the European Banking Union and the European Capital Markets Union, stressing the need for deeper integration in Europe’s financial markets.
He highlighted how the Capital Markets Union could boost European competitiveness amid global economic shifts and the rising influence of the U.S. and China. His reflections on the macroeconomic impacts of geopolitical changes added a timely dimension to his analysis.
Moreover, Prof. Sironi revisited a hypothesis on the creation of a European Insurance Union, emphasizing the need for harmonized supervisory practices across Europe.
This proposal resonated strongly with the audience, sparking discussions on how such a union could streamline operations for multinational insurance groups like Generali.
Sironi also addressed Europe’s demographic and energy challenges and stressed the pivotal role of innovation and AI in the financial sector. He underlined how AI technologies are transforming core activities such as pricing, claims management, and risk assessment, while also reshaping customer interactions. This technological evolution, he noted, is crucial for meeting the evolving expectations of a new generation of clients.
The engaging discussion and wide-ranging insights offered a valuable platform for participants to reflect and learn, while showcasing our School’s dedication to providing enriching academic experiences for both students and faculty.
Students from over 30 countries and 5 of our Programs were in attendance: the MBA in International Business, the Master in Insurance & Risk Management, the Executive MBA, the Executive MBA in Business Innovation, and the Executive Master in Insurance and Finance.
We extend our deepest thanks to Professor Sironi for his inspiring and insightful lecture.
We look forward to continuing this valuable collaboration and hope to welcome him back for future engagements, strengthening our enduring partnership with the Generali Group.
