Evidence of AI and generative AI adoption in Italian firms
In the modern corporate landscape, the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and business strategies has become a focal point for innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness.
A comprehensive survey conducted by MIB Research at the beginning of 2024 sheds light on the adoption of AI within Italian companies, presenting insightful findings that underscore the transformative role of AI in contemporary business practices.
The MIB Research survey, with insights from 237 Italian firms across manufacturing, IT, healthcare, and finance, reveals varied AI adoption and engagement primarily as end-users.

The study highlights a general trend towards increasing AI budget allocations, indicating AI's strategic role in the Italian business context. Despite significant departmental adoption variance, applications range from operational enhancements to product and service innovation.
About 36.7% of firms have yet to implement AI and are facing challenges like data structuring, skill gaps, and a lack of clear use cases. Despite these barriers, there's a prevalent optimism about AI's impact on the job market, with expectations leaning more towards job creation rather than displacement.
The anticipated rise in AI investments reflects a recognition of AI's capacity to revolutionize business operations and workforce dynamics. This survey provides a comprehensive overview of AI's impact and the strategic approaches needed for effective integration within the Italian corporate landscape.
