Barrie John Wells
Creative and disruptive entrepreneurship and philanthropy
Monday, October 16 at 11:00 am
MIB Trieste School of Management & Online
Event for MIB Students & Alumni only
We are delighted to have Mr. Barrie John Wells MBE as our guest speaker, and he will offer a lecture to our students, which will also be open to MIB alumni.
Barrie Wells is a distinguished English financial services entrepreneur, known for founding and successfully selling two significant insurance-related businesses in his career.
He established Prospero Direct, a direct home and motor insurance operation, which later evolved into Axa Direct following its sale. Additionally, he co-founded Premierline Direct, the UK's pioneering direct commercial insurance operation, eventually selling it to Allianz in 2006.
With a decade-long tenure as a non-executive director, Wells also contributed his expertise to Marks & Spencer Money.
Having ceased operational activity following the sale of Premierline in 2006, he founded The Barrie Wells Trust, a charitable organisation as a result of Barrie's commitment to philanthropy. Since then, Wells has dedicated his life to helping children who are afflicted with serious or incurable illnesses.
Barrie was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year 2020 Honours List for his remarkable charity work.
In his speech, Wells will focus on how truly creative thinking can solve major business problems, highlighting how self-belief, the creative use of data and communication and leadership skills can also assist in that problem solving.
He will bring his personal experience of how this way of thinking and acting has resulted in turning his visions into profitable companies.
