How to reach MIB Trieste

For the first time, MIB Trieste School of Management is taking part in the FAI Spring Days, an event that for over thirty years has allowed visitors to discover places of great historical and cultural value that are usually not open to the public.
The 2025 edition marks a special milestone: it is the 50th anniversary of FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano, a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote Italy’s rich heritage.

In this context, Palazzo Ferdinandeo, the School’s headquarters, will open its doors to visitors, offering them the chance to explore a building full of history and charm. Built in the second half of the 19th century, the Palazzo has witnessed different eras and purposes, eventually becoming the beating heart of an international business school.

The visits, organized in collaboration with FAI and its volunteers, will provide insights into the history, architecture, and current role of this iconic landmark in the city of Trieste.

We look forward to welcoming You!

The Ferdinandeo Palace

A dive into the Ferdinandeo Palace

The FAI Spring Day visit route at Palazzo Ferdinandeo, normally closed to the public as it serves as the academic hub of MIB Trieste School of Management, offers a unique blend of historical heritage and modern innovation.

The tour begins in the elegant atrium, leading into the majestic Salone, the heart of the Palazzo. Visitors will then explore the classrooms of the International Master’s programs, where students from around the world come to study.

Ascending to the second floor, guests will enjoy a stunning balcony view of the Salone before discovering the Origini Italia Classroom, dedicated to a special training program for descendants of Italian emigrants worldwide.
The journey continues to the new Boardroom and Media Room on the third floor, further enriching the experience.

Finally, the tour descends to the Garden, with an opportunity to climb to the Terrace of the new Pavilion for a breathtaking view of the Farneto Park and Palazzo Ferdinandeo. The visit concludes in the modern classrooms of the Pavilion, a cutting-edge structure built in 2010 with advanced energy-efficient technologies.

A story to be discovered

Palazzo Ferdinandeo, built between 1856 and 1858, stands on the edge of the Farneto Woods, a vast green hillside overlooking Trieste. Just minutes from the historic city center, the Palazzo is surrounded by a magnificent park, offering breathtaking views of the Gulf of Trieste. Designed by Berlin-based architect G. H. F. Hitzig and built by Giuseppe Sforzi, it has been home to MIB Trieste School of Management since 1999, welcoming participants from all over the world.

This Neo-Renaissance masterpiece was commissioned by Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria as a summer residence and dedicated to Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian. Over time, the Palazzo has had multiple purposes: it operated as a hotel and restaurant until 1914, served as an educational institute and military hospital, and was occupied by German forces, Slavic partisans, and Anglo-American troops during the two World Wars, suffering significant looting during these periods.

Despite these transformations, the Palazzo Ferdinandeo has preserved its original structure, undergoing careful restorations to maintain its historical elegance while adapting to new functions.
