The School and its community fondly remember Maurizio Fermeglia, former Rector of the University of Trieste and Professor of Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering, who passed away prematurely on February 25th.
An eclectic academic with grand visions, he held numerous university and managerial positions at the national level and collaborated on multiple and fundamental initiatives with our School as well.
It was under his guidance that the MIB Trieste School of Management and the University of Trieste signed their first strategic collaboration agreement: a significant gesture demonstrating his commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two institutions. This marked the beginning of a collaboration and personal closeness that has left an indelible imprint on our community. Fermeglia's involvement with our School dates back to its founding years: from the early 1990s, he was a central reference point in shaping strategies and evaluating IT investments to support educational and organizational processes.
During his tenure as Rector (2013-2019), Fermeglia was also a member of our Scientific Committee, now the Academic Advisory Board, always bringing valuable contributions of knowledge and vision.
In the context of Maurizio Fermeglia's extraordinary academic career, the School also wishes to remember his valuable scientific contributions and his personal commitment to the growth of MIB Trieste School of Management.
