MIB Trieste School of Management and the Italian Insurtech Summit: innovation, competences and agility for the insurance sector.

The School at the most important sector event in Italy

Italian Insurtech Summit 2023

The insurance industry, undergoing a profound digital transformation, needs the out of the box input of young talent

From 23 November to 1 December, MIB Trieste School of Management will play a central role at the Italian Insurtech Summit 2023, Italy's largest event dedicated to Insurtech, with two speakers on the panels, confirming the School's key role in the education and research in the insurance field.
Giorgio Valentinuz, Director of the Executive Master in Insurance & Finance, and Francesco Venier, Dean for Executive Education, both lecturers at the University of Trieste, will be speaking at the Summit, in person in Milan, and partly online, with live and on-demand presentations.

Targeting competencies, innovation and flexibility to further grow the insurance market, and developing new out of the box approaches that decisively focus on new technologies: these are the key topics at the centre of the meeting that will feature Valentinuz and Venier among its protagonists.
Two of the six days of the event (30 November and 1 December) are dedicated to the issue of training and skills, necessary to implement and verticalise on the sector all the technologies that are now available.
In order to develop not only new tools but a real new mindset, it is necessary to involve the new generations:
"A more flexible, technological and, why not, creative approach is now spreading widely; these innovations are making the insurance sector more appealing also to young people who do not always look with enthusiasm at this professional field," - explains Giorgio Valentinuz. - The sector, although necessarily regulated to protect the customer, is seeing a significant push towards innovation and digital transformation, both with the development of new technology-based products and through the use of technology for the better management of underwriting and settlement processes, as well as - for example - for the identification and suppression of fraud. Artificial intelligence, big data, machine learning, predictive models, Internet of Things, blockchain impact on customer care, distribution, product development, and cyber security. Many innovation initiatives are developing in the insurance world, not least the regulatory sandbox created by the MEF in collaboration with IVASS, the Bank of Italy and CONSOB."

Corporate innovation labs, acceleration programmes, incubators, insurtech start-ups are proliferating in the sector, and the size of investments is also developing rapidly, and there is a vital need for new skills and the contribution of young talent.
In consideration of this scenario, MIB Trieste offers many innovative paths to train the protagonists of a sector that is deeply changing.
At the Summit, Giorgio Valentinuz will speak on these topics on 1 December in Milan, while a presentation on other disruptive topical issues (the introduction of generative AI in the industry and the dialogue between management and scientists) is by Francesco Venier and is available on demand.
