We deeply regret to communicate that our beloved Prof. Ermanno Pitacco has just passed away. Our community has lost the dearest of friends and a passionate colleague, one of the pillars on which our school's foundations have laid since its establishment. A kind and gentle soul, always generous in sharing passion and a positive view of life.
Ermanno has been an outstanding scholar and academic in applied mathematics and actuarial science, with international standing and a reputation which places him among the pioneers and the most accredited academics in actuarial studies worldwide.
The growth and international positioning that MIB has achieved in insurance studies owe a lot to Ermanno Pitacco.
His example will guide us, and all of us, directors, lecturers, and staff, will try to honor his legacy built on rigour, passion and enthusiasm, even if the void he leaves is endless.
