I studied in Beijing, where I earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I then went on to earn a degree in Business Economics from Economy College. Later, I decided to come to Italy to earn an MBA from MIB School of Management. What was your experience at MIB Trieste School of Management?
I have a really positive memories of Italy and MIB School: for me it was an entirely new atmosphere, a completely different world for me. In Italy I learned to see the world in a new way. The MIB MBA opened my mind, I learned to see things from another perspective, I came face to face with cultures which were very different from my own. What was your career track after the MBA?
After earning my MBA, thanks to the School I started working for Snaidero where I worked on a construction project for an office in China. That experience was very interesting and educational. After that, Snaidero gave me the opportunity to enter into Luxottica.
I did my schooling and studies at Coimbatore in the state of
Tamil Nadu in India. I graduated in Applied Sciences in the
Faculty of Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology in
April 1992. After graduating with the Bachelor’s degree in Applied
Sciences, I appeared for the All-India entrance examination for
recruitment as Trainee Nautical Officer Cadet (TNOC) conducted by
The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. I was selected for training
on board merchant ships. Thus began my career at
I had a very successful career at sea. I started my sea
career as a deck cadet in June 1993 and went on to become a
Captain in January 2007. During my tenure at sea which
spanned 14 years, I had the opportunity to work onboard different
types of merchant ships like oil tankers, container ships and bulk
It would not be an exaggeration if I say that my career at sea
has helped me immensely in growing up as an individual ready to
take on the challenges of life. Life at sea is tough requiring a
great amount of determination, hard work and commitment. The sea
career has enabled me to face difficult times in life with the same
determination that I had used during times of bad weather and
storms at sea.
After I became a merchant navy Captain, I felt that I must look for opportunities in the corporate world which would allow me to grow further personally and professionally. With this in mind, I took the GMAT examination as I wanted to embark on a career in the world of international business.
I decided to do the full time MBA in International Business
at MIB School of Management as a precursor to a change in
career direction. I am glad to say that this MBA has helped me
realize my corporate aspirations.
It has helped me reach the goal that I set out for. I am now joining ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel company as Manager-Supply Chain Management having been selected under the Business Leaders Programme in the field of Supply Chain and Logistics.
